You WILL want to be at the 65th Annual Meeting of the Society for Range Management in Spokane! Training, networking, learning and fun will be virtually non-stop.
The Spokane Convention Center is newly remodeled and sits along the Spokane River in the heart of town. It is ideal for SRM. Restaurants, activities and the airport are handy. We encourage you to stay in our hotel block at the DoubleTree, Red Lion Hotel at the Park, or the Travelodge. Official meeting hotels are where all the action is, and your participation provides huge economic benefits to the SRM.
Our Plenary speakers will kick off the 2012 Winter Dance to explore "Lessons from the Past - Strategies for the Future", just as the Columbia Plateau Bands do at their annual gathering. Interested in technical sessions? Over 40 symposia, workshops and forums will address the broad spectrum of rangeland interests. Register early for two wildly popular ecological site description workshops! The Ranchers' Forum will break new ground with thought-provoking topics and will be available remotely for the first time in SRM Annual Meeting history! The two-day Native American workshop continues the work to solve complex rangeland management issues on tribal lands.
Want to meet your buddies, let your hair down and have some fun? A British Columbia band will kick off the Monday Trade Show Mixer. "Wylie and the Wild West" will have everyone two-stepping Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, the "Boots, Knives & Booze Tour" is surely the most unique SRM tour ever! The "Taste of the Northwest" Wednesday dinner will feature the region's finest food and beverage, at the right price! SRM specializes in having a good time before, between, and after meeting sessions every day, all week long.
We guarantee a good time for all! Put the 65th Annual Meeting of the Society for Range Management on your training schedule now. Registration for the meeting will be live in October, and hotel reservation links are live now.
On behalf of the members of the Idaho and Pacific Northwest Sections, welcome to Spokane! You are in the heart of the Inland Empire, on the fringe of lush northern forests and the intermountain grasslands of the Columbia Plateau. This is land of rugged beauty - with dramatic alpine peaks and glittery waters. However, the true gems, not always obvious to the passing traveler, are the rangelands which dominate the landscape east of the Cascade Mountains and southern Idaho. While you are here, be sure to attend our premier social event - Taste of the Northwest - where we will celebrate the quality and culture of regional foods and the agricultural heritage of this great Northwest.
We extend appreciation to all the 2012 volunteers, with special thanks to the co-leaders of this endeavor, our own Three Amigos: Will Keller, Kevin Guinn and J.D. Wulfhorst. Their efforts and enthusiasm have been contagious and are greatly appreciated.
