Section Youth Activities Workshop
(Sunday, February 7 from 5:30 to 7 PM)

We are pleased to inform you of a new workshop that will be held during the 2010 Society for Range Management Meeting in Denver, Colorado. The objective of the workshop is to provide a forum for the discussion of ideas aimed at helping Section Youth Activity coordinators maximize the effectiveness of the youth programs in each SRM Section.

Constructive discussion will provide the participants with important feedback as to what problems and challenges various sections face when it comes to promoting, planning, conducting, and following up with youth programs. The goal is to try to address some key issues and to spend time sharing ideas.

The workshop is scheduled to take place on Sunday evening, February 7, 2010 from 5:30 to 7 PM. It will immediately precede the opening orientation session of the High School Youth Forum and will be held in the same meeting room. We feel this schedule will be most convenient for the Section youth contacts and other SRM youth coordinators to be able to participate at the workshop while attending to the needs of their delegates.

The need for this workshop surfaced during the Student Activities meetings that were held during the previous SRM Annual Meeting in Albuquerque, NM earlier this year. Several sections have not had any High School Youth Forum representation for several years. Also, there seems to be a decline in the number of youth range camps that are being held and the attendance has become stagnant in some regions. We hope this workshop will help solve some of these issues.

We look forward to the participation from all the SRM Sections at this new and important workshop at the Denver meeting!
